The Bowfin first went into motion within the Pacific on December 7, 1942, precisely one 12 months after the assault on Pearl Harbor. She was nicknamed the “Pearl Harbor Avenger.” In the present day, the Bowfin rests in Pearl Harbor and welcomes visitors in for a tour.

Bruce was variety sufficient to share his expertise as he visited Pearl Harbor and snapped this photograph.

“This photograph was taken of the united statesBowfin on the morning of Might 23, 2022 at 8:07 AM as my spouse and I had been standing on the Remembrance Circle close to the united statesArizona anchor. This was our first go to to Pearl Harbor and the Pearl Harbor Customer’s Middle. Each of us had been so moved by the occasions that occurred on December 7, 1941, we each began to cry whereas overlooking the harbor on the Arizona, Missouri and the Bowfin. What a value that was paid for the liberty we take pleasure in at present!  I can’t start to explain the feelings I felt that day.  Some day sooner or later, Lord prepared, we each want to return.”

It’s common to have the same emotional expertise whenever you go to Pearl Harbor. I tear up each time I go to.

Tomorrow, December seventh, is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. With solemness, we mirror on that day “which is able to stay in infamy” as President Roosevelt proclaimed.
